In the documentary, producer Prue Donald, with cameraman Barrington West, filmed me during my year as the first composer-in-residence in Douglas Lilburn’s former home in Thorndon, Wellington during 2005 and 2006.
Commissioned by TVNZ 1 for Artsville, Composer in Residence offers a rare insight into the creative process bringing Whitehead’s unique music to life as she works on a range of projects during her residency with the New Zealand String Quartet and Richard Nunns, Carolyn Mills and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the New Zealand School of Music, Tudor Consort and the Royal NZ Air Force Central Band, and Gaylene Preston.
